            Prezi is a new, free website used to easily make presentations. It was launched in April 2009. http://prezi.com/about/.  It has the same aspects of Microsoft Power Point and other free presentation websites, with its own twist. It is now being used more with school presentations and business presentations. It is very easy to use once you get the feel for it and can help organize your information. During the presentation you move from one “slide” to another and can design which slide you want to come after the previous slide. This is called creating a path for your presentation. You can also put YouTube links in the presentation and it will play right when you move to that slide. It is a very fun way to present a project and make it more fun and entertaining. There are many ways to “play” around with your project. For example there are many colors and designs to choose from. Some people may prefer this website over Microsoft Power Point even though they have the same concept they are very different in the way they are made.

Google Plus

Google Plus

            Google plus is another social network that is can closely be related with Facebook. It is Google’s attempt to making a social network. Since it is a new social network it is still being worked on and gradually being used more everyday. It is easy to use and an easy way to search people.

            For businesses you can use “circles” which allows you to interact with the ones who you chose to interact with. This can be good so you can put people from your businesses in this circle and only communicate with them about a new product, etc. Businesses can also advertise your products on Google plus. It is easy to find, say you were to search clothing, and clothing companies may show up that people may be interesting in searching. A negative about this can be competition. There are many companies that may be thinking the same thing about advertising there products.

            There is also a social aspect for Google plus similar to that of Facebook. Circles can also be used by maybe teens who don’t want their parents to see what they are saying or doing. This is just another way for friends to communicate with each other. This can be dangerous because like Facebook things may say they are ‘on private” but their may be other ways for people to find your information.

            Google plus can also be used for entertainment. Game room is something you may use to play poker, build a new civilization, and other fun games. You can also entertain yourself by looking at other people Google plus accounts and look through their pictures, videos, etc. You may face connection problems with the games, which is a negative to this aspect of Google plus.

            Google plus can also help you find out information and obtain news you may not have known if you didn’t use this social network. People may post things you were unaware about and can help you become more familiar with a situation. This may be a negative because if you post something about news that you didn’t wish for some people to see, it may start problems.

            Lastly, Google plus can be used recreationally. Mainly this is social network made for people to have fun on. It allows people with similar interest to find each other and communicate with each other. Like is said before there are also games to play and have fun with as well.

           

Facebook

Facebook

Facebook is a website that was founded in 2004. It is a world wide social network that can be used for many reasons. It is a great way of communication, spreading the word and finding friends. This social network can help people from all around the world communicate with each other and keep in touch.

A negative for this can be is not following Facebook rules regarding business accounts.

            Like I stated before Facebook can be used socially in the sense that many people use this social network to connect with people from all around the world or to search people they used to know. This can be bad because even though it may say your photos, status, etc. are private, this may not be the case. People can also abuse this website by posting pictures that are not appropriate and should not be on the internet. This is why people have the option to report these pictures if they feel they are inappropriate and/or feel offended by these pictures.

            Facebook is also used for entertainment. People like to post pictures and status and look at what other people are posting. People also like to “message” and “pop chat” others to have conversations, just like you would text someone. There are also some Facebook pages people can read that may have to do with their favorite celebrity, band, etc.

            News is another category that Facebook covers. Facebook can be used to spread information quickly. For example there are photos you can “share” to spread a photo and get out something important. Sometimes the case may be something that is controversial and is the negative part about this factor on Facebook.

            Facebook can be used for recreational purposes as well. There are many fun games and other activities Facebook offers. Some games include Farmville, being sent your daily horoscope, or taking different quizzes. These games are just an addition to all the other perks Facebook offers.

Twitter

Twitter

Twitter is a social network that can be useful for way of communication for anything from businesses to news and entertainment. It is a social network that can be used to acquire information from different celebrities, news channels or your friends. It is very efficient and easy to use. Twitter started out by being very popular for celebrities and famous teams, but has been growing to teens and other businesses as the time goes on.

Businesses might use twitter for advertisements and also communication between the workers in the business. It is a quick and efficient way to get information from one person(s) to another. Also businesses may want to tweet about new products that are coming out or links to websites to spread the word of their business or what they are selling. Others can also tweet back to the companies twitter account about there thoughts on the business. This can help the business grow and become more successful.

            As for the social aspect of twitter, people might use this to communicate with their friends. People also use twitter to get out what is on there mind. This can also be a negative website for young teens or celebrities. Just like any other social network it can be dangerous if not protected correctly or something that wasn’t meant to be put on the website was put on by accident.

            Twitter is a major entertainment in the daily life of a teenager or celebrity. People like looking at other celebrities and what they are doing, or maybe following bands to see when there next tour is. Most celebrities tweet very often and make this social network useful.  People like to see what other people are doing and this may be entertaining. One personal reason for why the use of twitter as entertainment can be negative is always wanting to be on twitter and check your twitter account. You never want to miss a tweet because you never know what you may miss.

            Twitter can be used to spread news as well. It can spread news about celebrities or current events in your town. It will keep you updated with the latest events you may want to know. Although this seems like a positive way to rapidly get news around, it can also be negative because people may misinterpret the news wrong or cause untrue rumors to spread about what people think they saw but read incorrectly.

            Twitter can also be used for recreational purposes. It is fun for people to view other twitter accounts that may be focused on one thing, either funny or educational. This would mean following a baseball team to find out the latest stats or new players. There is also twitter account like “Smithtown Life” which is a twitter account all about funny things in our high school that everyone can relate to.
